How Much Could I Save?

Just about all your expenses are covered when you work at Sias University or Zhengzhou City College. Airfare, Visa, Housing, Electricity, Internet, Cable TV, Culture Trips, weekly trips to Zhengzhou, and 6 weeks of paid holiday.

Thing not covered would be eating out ($1-2 per person per meal), cell phone plan ($1-5 on average per month), taxi downtown ($0.80), an electric scooter for a few hours ($0.40), or a bicycle for the day ($0.15), a massage ($2), or a haircut including shampoo ($1.50). $100 spends more like $1000 in Henan Province. But, not everyone budgets their money and many like to travel to Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong or go to other countries like Thailand or the Philippines during our 6-week winter holiday. Don’t plan on saving any money if you want to to travel to these places more than a few times during the school year.

To help you plan (for no plan is a plan to fail), please use this Excel sheet to see how much you could save if you spent a percentage of your monthly pay check. Also look in the FAQ under Questions about Money to see other related topics.

Download this Excel Document that is a tool for estimating how much you will make and save in a month or year.

Here is what the document will look like, but the below image is static. (go here to change conversion ratio and % saved):
